In the videos it looks extremely smooth like some sort of polymer, so I was wondering, what's the best type of filament to use when printing these models and what's the best resolution to use?

PLA works fine. The material, as long as it's not too flexible, doesn't matter. It's smooth from a mix of good print settings, lots of printing experience, and post-processing (sanding, trimming, etc.)

PLA is usually pretty consistent across decent brands. I use a fairly cheap one for all my prints and they work out really well.

Saludos.
